The circle trail around Bringle Lake is now approximately half finished which means that the first three of the six-mile trail is completed. Adventuresome individuals can enter the new trail next to the restrooms at Bringle Lake East park and now follow the trail over three miles back to the spillway at the far end of Bringle Lake.  The new trail is being built by the City of Texarkana, Texas in conjunction with Texas A&M-Texarkana, with matching funds from Partnership for the Pathway.

Keep Texarkana Beautiful (KTB of Texarkana, TX) and the City Beautiful Commission (CBC of Texarkana, AR) work to recognize those in our community who go above and beyond to help keep our community neat, clean green and pretty. Alternating Texas and Arkansas honorees each month, the organizations take turns recognizing a business and a residence that exemplify the goals and values and efforts that make our community an attractive place to live.

In February KTB recognized Cody and Natalie Peek (as individuals) and Ironwood Grill (as a business) for their efforts.

Stepping Up to
Make a Difference

“The idea of leadership to me means having the opportunity to make a difference,”  Stephanie believes that you can take “an out of the box idea” and make it happen.  “Dream big and big things will happen.”

...if she could make one wish to make a difference in her part of the world:   “My greatest hope in making a difference is to bring more awareness to the surrounding area about the need for CASA volunteers to help children have a voice and a friend,” says Stephanie.   She believes all children deserve the opportunity to be the best they can be.  She loves seeing smiling faces where tears used to be, or watching adults find purpose in helping a child.  For Stephanie Fussell it doesn’t get any better than that!

  • Focus on the Funny: Armed with an abundance of unpretentious Southern charm and laser sharp wit, Chonda Pierce has been entertaining audiences from coast to coast for more than a decade. An in-demand stand up comic, television hostess and author, Pierce has parlayed her gift for storytelling into a multi-faceted career. March 11 at FBC Moores Lane.
  • Paying Tribute:  according to Rolling Stone Magazine—1964- The Tribute is the “Best Beatles Tribute On Earth”  Presented by TRAHC March 11 at the Perot Theater. For seating choices and ticket information please visit trahc.org

  • Take me out to the BALL GAME!   Texas A&M Texarkana Eagles baseball games will be played at George Dobson field March 11, at 6:15 P.M. and two games on March 12, beginning at 1:00 P.M. The games will be the Eagles vs. College of the Ozarks.  Check it out here.

  • Go FLY a KITE!! Our flags are proudly waving in the breeze so there is ample supply of power to amaze and thrill a group of kids by spending the day flying kites with them...a very economical event and tons of fun for everyone involved. Include a picnic lunch and you have won the day! All you really need is a cheap kite and some open space. If you are crafty, visit www.kitebuilder.com for details of building you own.

  • Prevention is the Best Medicine:  Learn all about it over dinner from Dr. Patricia Sulak of Baylor Scott & White Health Clinic; at the same time you can benefit the community projects of the Altrusa International Club of Texarkana.  Start Living Aware for Living Well on March 8. Call 903.748.8978 for tickets.

  • Count the ways. Pretend you are in Europe and open your eyes to the great numbers of exquisite stained glass windows in our downtown churches, then thank our ancestors for the legacy they have left us.
  • Take a Spring Break.  Many area schools will be on spring break in the coming weeks which provides an excellent opportunity to visit a local treasure house: The Discovery Place Children’s Museum is an excellent choice to allow folks of all ages to get up close and experience “hands on” interactive learning as they wander through and see what exhibit most sparks their interest. Be sure you take the opportunity to witness the 1,000,000 volt Musical Tesla Coils! For more information please visit  http://texarkanamuseums.org/

Totally Texarkana Favorite Foods
of the Weekl

"My favorite restaurant in Texarkana is Park Place - I’ve been going to Park Place for over 30 years and the food is consistently good, and I love that they still have a fresh salad bar. I usually have the Beef Pontchartrain, which is always great, but, the one dish we always order is Oysters Bienville. They are the best we have ever had at any restaurant!... In addition to the great food and service, Cyrus and his family always make you feel welcome!

“There are many good places to eat in Texarkana but Ironwood Grill seems to be a family favorite that suits us all!  I give them 5 stars!”  For taste, visual presentation, and pricing...”...they do it and do it well”.  Charles especially loves burgers, wherever they eat!
